American Affairs Desk: Preacher Smackdown

Stupor Delegates

By Mark Kaufman
Here’s a new spot I did for an article on WA Super Delegates. Final image and some of the rush sketches I did in about an hour for this last minute spot for a news feature. Whatever. I think at this point we are spending way too much time talking inside the Beltway, inside state capitol USA shenanigans and political machinations and just plain bullshit than we are talking about substantive issues. Hell I'm guilty of it myself, this week in my American Affairs Desk comic I wrote about Rev. Wright and Pastor Hagee. I'll try to do better, and let those without sin cast the first bon mot.
My God What Have I Done?
By Mark Kaufman
With the move to a new office I am trying to corral close to 30 years worth of sketches, drawing, cocktail napkin ideas and file them. I am trying to make some kind of sense of boxes and boxes of projects for clients far and wide, personal work and just plain scribblings that make no sense at all. Photos are of a tiny sample of a pile of stuff and me next to the filing cabinet wondering how on earth I am going to manage all of this. Many thanks to Jean McCarthy for helping me get started on this.

How to Draw a Presidential Candidate II
By Mark Kaufman
Very interesting and insightful article from The New York Times on drawing the remaining troika of presidential candidates, with a top-notch cadre of illustrators, Anita Kunz, Steve Brodner, Barry Blitt and Rick Meyerowitz weighing in. The reader comments run the gamut from intelligent to downright ridiculous. What else is new?

Drippy Time Waster
By Mark Kaufman
You have probably seen this, but I stumbled across this the other day. A fun and addictive waste of time, you can digitally paint like Jackson Pollack, without all that messy paint, smoking and screwing around
